Got a machining or DIY metalworking project? This set of five High-Speed Steel (HSS) round rods is super handy. Each rod is 4.8mm (about 0.19 inches) in diameter and 100mm (about 3.93 inches) long. HSS is a tough alloy steel known for its 'red hardness' – it can maintain a high hardness (around HRC 61-63) even at temperatures up to 500°C, making it excellent for cutting tools. You can use these rods to make or repair all sorts of things: small lathe tools, gravers, punches, miniature axles, shafts, gears, pins, or bearings. They're versatile for machining copper, aluminum, and unhardened steel. The surface is smooth and they're easy to shape with the right tools. A quick heads-up: due to their length and manufacturing, these rods can have a slight warp (for 100mm length, expect around 1mm of runout), so they're not ideal for ultra-high-precision coaxial work where zero tolerance is critical. For general DIY, model making, and tool creation, they're perfect. Just remember to keep them lightly oiled when storing to prevent rust. Cut them to your desired size and get creating!
