Board game fans, if you love deep strategy and area control games, check out Queen Games' Shogun. It's based on the Wallenstein game system but set in Japan's Sengoku (Warring States) period. You play as a Daimyo, trying to build your kingdom by managing resources, building castles and temples, and of course, fighting battles. The coolest part? The combat uses a 'Cube Tower'—you literally drop your troops (cubes) into the tower, and whatever comes out the bottom determines the winner. It's chaotic and fun. This expansion, 'Tennis Court', adds the imperial court to visit, which adds even more strategic depth. It plays 3 to 5 players and takes about 120 minutes, so it's a solid game night choice. The components are language-independent, and it comes with rulebooks in several languages. If you enjoy games like Wallenstein, Der große Dalf, or other Euro-style war games, Shogun is a classic.
